Patients are suffering from various types of diseases in which some of them can be discovered early and treated well. But for some diseases, diagnostic is difficult and need costly equipments. Cancer is such a disease, which is hard to discover earlier. If they are discovered in the initials stage, then it can be treated well. Otherwise it can cause death to patients. Moreover, that everyone fears about the deadly pain and sufferings the patient has to bear.
In women breast cancer is becoming common nowadays. The reason for this is unknown. Out of these majorities turns out to be severe. Reason for this is a late discovery of the disease. So the best solution of breast cancer is to find out it in the early stage. Diagnostic mammography is the test conducted to find out breast cancer.
Diagnostic of breast cancer by finding out the lump in the breast is a difficult process. If the lump has considerable size, then it can be acknowledged well. But if it has a peanut size, then the diagnostic is difficult. Also all lumps will not turn out to cancer. But, breast abnormalities are to be checked at the earliest to avoid the deadly situation.
All calcifications on mammogram reading will not turn out to cancer. A small amount of calcium can be found in breast and body in normal conditions. But some calcifications on the mammogram can be the symptoms of breast cancer. So it is a fact which is to be considered seriously. We can see calcium deposits as small white spots in the mammogram.
The two commonly used mammograms is digital and computer aided mammography. Digital mammography is also called full field digital mammography. It makes use of solid state devices to convert the x rays into detectable electrical signals that can be checked and studied. Breast images can be seen on devices that can process the converted electrical signals. It can be displayed either on the computer screen or can be printed on a film.
Computer aided method make use of computer systems to view the picture or graph. While in digitized mammograms it can be obtained in photographic films. But in CAD, computer is used to view the signals. So it’s better and has more options for additional add on devices.
By the above methods, physicians find calcifications on the mammogram to study whether there is cancer or not. They also check for the lumps and sizes of the lumps. Small growth of tissues can be detected using screening mammography. There are chances that these small tumors can be turned out to cancer.
Once the mammogram is completed, doctor will check for calcifications on the mammogram to check whether the patient has cancer or not. Results of the mammogram can be obtained in a week or more. Developed cancer will show more calcifications on the mammogram. By finding out the intensity of calcification, they can detect the intensity of disease. Calcium appears as spots in the mammogram. This can be easily understood. But only doctors have good skills can understand whether it is cancer or nothanks.
