The carpal tunnel as a syndrome which is characterized by pain, tingling, numbness and other symptoms’ in both hand and arm. Pressure on the media nerve at the wrist is one of the most common causes of the symptoms as the nerve passes through the tunnel formed by the carpals and a ligament lying under the skin. The function of the median nerve is to supply sensation to the fingers and muscles function to control the thumb.

When the joint linings, tendons and muscles swell, carpal tunnel syndrome results and a number of factors can lead to this inflammation. Some of the factors that can lead to this inflammation are arthritis, wrist injuries, professions that require grasping, pregnancy, and use of the birth control pills, diabetes, median nerve femur, thyroid disease and a lot of other factors.
